Roblox for football clubs - a playbook for 2027

- 6 min read - Player Promo

Short answer: football's next fans are already on Roblox - 138 million people play every day - but most clubs only turn up there as a guest in someone else's game for a week at a time. The clubs that win the next generation in 2027 will run their own official world all season, and use events in bigger games to fill it.

Why Roblox matters to football clubs now

Roblox reported 138 million daily active users in the third quarter of 2026. It isn't only children: 29% of age-checked players worldwide are 18 or over, and about 30% of US 13-17 year olds use it every day.

That is the age when loyalty is decided. Two Circles' "Made by 14" research found 76% of UK fans pick their team by the age of 14. If a young fan spends more hours on Roblox than watching matches, the club they meet there matters.

And if your club isn't there officially, it is probably there unofficially. Fan-made games and avatar items already use club badges and kits, with no quality control and no revenue for the club.

How football clubs show up on Roblox today

There are four main routes, and most clubs are only using the first.

RouteWhat you getWhat you don't keep
Guest event in a big football gameFast reach for a week or twoThe players, the data and most of the revenue
League-level gameYour badge alongside every other clubAnything that is yours alone
Avatar items and kitsFans wearing your shirt across RobloxA place to bring them together

Guest events: FIFA Super Soccer

The best-known home of football on Roblox is FIFA Super Soccer, FIFA's official Roblox game, run by Gamefam. It has passed 1.1 billion visits. Clubs and national teams join it through limited-time events. Borussia Dortmund debuted its 2026/27 kits there in a week-long event in May 2026, and the adidas Football Festival brought in 14 adidas partner clubs, including Aston Villa, Flamengo and Boca Juniors.

It's a smart way to get in front of football fans quickly. But when the event ends, the club's presence ends with it.

League games

The Premier League launched Dribble Dash, its own football game on Roblox. League games are good for the sport, but every club shares the same space.

Renting a week vs owning the season

A guest event is renting. An official club world is owning. The difference shows up after the final whistle:

  • Audience: event players belong to the host game. Players in your world follow your club, and come back for the next match.
  • Calendar: an event is a single moment. Your own world can follow every fixture, kit launch, signing and season.
  • Revenue: virtual kits, items and sponsor space in your world earn for your club, not someone else's game.
  • Control: your stadium, your crest, your rules on safety and tone - and one official home that makes unofficial copies easier to deal with.

The strongest plans use both: own the world, and rent attention to fill it at big moments. (We make the wider case in why brands should own a Roblox world, not rent one.)

What an official club world should include

  1. Your ground as the hub. Fans walk up the street, through the gates and out onto your pitch - in your colours, with your sponsors on the boards.
  2. Skill games players already love. Penalties, free kicks, races and challenges, with leaderboards and rewards that bring people back.
  3. A live matchday mode. The world follows your real fixtures, with goal celebrations and rewards for fans who show up on the day.
  4. A club shop. Official virtual kits, scarves and items, so fans wear your club across the whole of Roblox.
  5. Places to hang out. A bar, cafe, changing rooms and trophy room - somewhere to meet friends, not just a menu of games.
  6. Room for partners. Sponsor zones and branded items, sold the same way as your stadium inventory.
  7. Your whole club. Men's and women's teams, academy and history, front and centre.
  8. Safety from day one. Built to the right Roblox content maturity level, with no gambling-style mechanics. See who actually plays Roblox.

How fans will find your world

Through your own channels first. A shared link now opens straight into a Roblox game in the browser, so every social post, newsletter and matchday programme can send fans in. On top of that:

  • Roblox's recommendations reward games people come back to, so regular updates matter as much as the launch.
  • Creators can open your world to millions of viewers on launch day.
  • Events in bigger games can point players back to your home.

Roblox has also said selected games will be able to publish outside Roblox from the first half of 2027, which could take club worlds even further.

What changes in 2027

From 1 January 2027, Roblox charges a fee on brand integrations in other creators' games, priced per 1,000 visits - $0.75 for UK players during the first 28 days. That makes guest appearances a cost per visit. Your own official world doesn't carry that fee. We break the numbers down in Roblox's 2027 brand integration fees, explained.

A simple first-season plan

  1. Weeks 1-2: concept and revenue case. Agree the world, the games and the numbers before anything is built.
  2. Weeks 3-6: build. Starting from a proven stadium template, a focused first version of your world can be live in about six weeks.
  3. Launch on a matchday. Use your channels, your players and creators to open the gates.
  4. Then run it like a season. Updates every few weeks, live events on big fixtures, new kits on launch day.

FAQ

Which football clubs are on Roblox? Many clubs have appeared in FIFA Super Soccer events, including Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa, Flamengo and Boca Juniors, and the Premier League has its own game, Dribble Dash. Very few clubs run a permanent official world of their own.

Can smaller clubs do this, or only the giants? Smaller clubs can. Starting from a stadium template keeps the first version affordable, and a loyal local fanbase is exactly what an owned world is built for.

How long does it take to launch? A focused first version can be live in about six weeks, then grows in phases through the season.

Does it cost fans anything? No. Roblox is free to play, and so is a club world. Fans can choose to buy items, the same way they choose to buy a shirt.
